Hello, this is the OKES website and I am Robert.

First to explain, the word oke is slang in South Africa for a guy or a bloke. As in, “see that oke over there, he’s a model.”

So I set this site up in 2022 because I’ve shoot so many photographs of guys (or okes) for magazines, periodicals and others, including model agencies, books and private clients, and I’m conscious that one month’s carefully produced photo-spread becomes the lining of someone’s bird cage the next month.

It’s annoying to see so many boxes of negatives that I’ve loved shooting, sitting unseen in the cupboard.

So I started OKES as a way to share some many of the photographs and stories I’ve taken, so that you can continue to enjoy them.
